A tour at #webdays in Bucarest, the international francophone days of the web
The international francophone days of the web took place on the 21 to 23 April 2017, at The Polytechnic University of Bucarest. Animated by renowned specialists, the activities were divided into 15 free conferences and workshops regarding entrepreneurship, innovation, numeric technology, and journalism… And this beeing a one of a kind event, we are glad to offer you a full review.
It all started in October 2016, with the meeting of the Webdays network president (https:/ /webdays.co/), Farid Arab. It happened in Sofia, at the first meeting of the young central and oriental European francophone. It all needed a moment, a conversation, a vision in order to create this ambitious project : Romania will be the first European country to host Webdays and the Gaudeamus association of francophone students had only few months to organize their arrival.
It was on a Friday morning that the international francophone weekdays started in the presence of the ambassadors of Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria, after the official online inauguration
on Facebook that took place at the legendary Bran Castle (as known as Dracula castle). Starting from here, we already liked it. The official opening, immediately gave the word to Farid Arab to talk about different startup models.
a rich presentation that will offer details about the days to come. Next, is the conference of Lamine Talakela who talks about future of telecommunication, and in his opinion, the user experience is the one that counts in the evolution of the communication technologies, a real challenge for him, this being his first conference in english. And at the end of the morning, Chris Cokson’s Blockchain conference took over, and he talks about a fast, secure, transparent money transfer mechanism that removes intermediaries and allows traceability of transactions.
After the lunch hosted by the Moroccan Embassy, the participants divided into three groups: one for the video mapping and virtual reality conference, one for the Libres Ensemble workshop and one for the personal development workshop. The mapping video conference was held by Dr. Nizar Djalal Adnani who gave practical advice in order to create your own 3D video mapping. A technique that allows to a graphical designer to give life to statical objects, like building or even smaller objects, it consists of creating a visual illusion by projecting very attractive videos on existing unicolored structures. A technique described by him as a super-immersive and impressive, it’s that simple that we love it!
He’s been followed by Jean-Baptiste Massif who introduced us to the virtual reality.
then he concentrated his purpose around the virtual visit and his « uberisation », questions on price and rentability. This hyper-attractive technique thus makes the spaces accessible in distance and in an interactive way!
At the same time, there was the workshop “Libres ensemble”, discussions about democracy and radicalization, a useful, human workshop that revives the critical spirit. And finally, in another room, Sébastien Socchard’s personal development workshop begun with a few minutes of meditation followed by questions and answers, essentially addressing personal aspirations, self-knowledge and limiting beliefs. A breath of fresh air and motivation combined with an enlarged field of possibilities, as students, it spoke to us right away.
The second day was entirely split between two classrooms, two groups and two simultaneaous workshops. All begins with M. Lamine Talakela’s conference « How to digitalise a company internationnaly ».
it was all about tools and details about international development, the lecture was passionating, filled with real-life stories and experiences, we didn’t miss a single crumb!
His intervention was followed by an english online conference about search engines and Big Data with M. Jean Khiat who’s the founder of a company specialized in calue creation and evaluation. Dr. Kamel Souig spoke about information producing and journalistic practices,
Information which he has introduced as the most important thing to master for any project. After all the concepts he introduces, we have strongly kept in mind how medias work, why and how it is evaluating! This captivating presentation is to advertise. In the other side, there was other workshops, the first in romanian “Tinerii si cultura de acum“ by Miss Serin Jemaa and Mr. Victor Tapeaunu who were questioning the way of thinking artistic and cultural projects in the actual environment in Romania and outside Romania. They took as an example their own company experiences, the most impacting example was the free theater discovery project which allows them to live a great adventure all over the country. And just before the lunch offered by the Tunisian Embassy, we could attend a conference called “How to federate a team around a project”.
A very stimulating conference by Mr. Norman Heuremate who has decomposed in many points the meaning of leadership, steps, visions, fast, efficient, energy concentration, things we need to practice to perform our behavior so we can catalyze our strength points, energize our projects, he gave us some key features to success.
There were two workshops in the afternoon, « Startup session » with Mr. Thibaud Bennet and Mr. Yassine Guerbas on one side, while, Dr. Kamel Souig was performing his « Come on Day » on the other side. The first workshop aimed to introduce the characteristics of a successful startup using the example of M. Farid Arab’s future project. The attendees of this workshops were dispatched into 4 groups and they had to work on the creation of projects.
This real-time simulation directed by professionals fed up real canvas who’s been held by our students, the help that has been given was outstandingly precious. “Come On Day” is a workshop in which you can assist and experiment audio-visual journalistic techniques. The major example was how the attendees could participate to the directing of a Webdays documentary called ” Startup” they also could understand how to choose camera angles and editing. A real opportunity it was for them to become real journalists for one day. After that, this long day was finally over.
Last day of our event, softer, because the conferences were concentrated only in the morning. We could have thought that a conference about “ Resume and letters of motivation” even if useful, will be a kind of deja-vu for the participants, but Dr. Djalal Nizar Adnani could not only bring main good practices but he also gave them a new point of view on how to make a better resume and advice them with many details and secrets that can make it better. He did all that in an interactive way full of examples, humor, as good as we couldn’t do anything else but to listen to him.
And while complementarity is key, Dr Kamel Souig has brought the assistance another dimension for job searching, so he explained how to deal with professional social networks.
We have to say that the combination of those two workshops gives a lot of ideas and a strong will to start over writing job documents to candidates and search for a job. He mentioned some social networks but focused on Linkedin (https://www.linkedin.com/) explaining precisely how to create a virtual identity for job searching in the digital world which has become unavoidable nowadays.
The event ended with a diner offred by the Algerian Embassy. We must congratulate the associative village of the event with RobotiqueFF Robot designers, and AESO association Drone makers, both of them are attending contests with their creations and we wish them all the success they deserve.
